Important announcements for not_primetime

When you're in your AO3 dashboard page, look for the link called 'Assignments' in the left hand column. Click on Assignments and look for Not Prime Time 2013 For [Recipient]. In that box it should say 'Status: Unposted' with two buttons of Default and Fulfill.

When you're ready to upload, click the Fulfill button. This is the easiest way to upload because it automatically fills out the collection, assignment, and recipient tag.

If you plan on defaulting, follow the steps above except clicking on the Default button instead of the Fulfill button.

Once you've uploaded, you can continue editing until the collection goes live.

Treats over 1000 words can also go into the Not Prime Time 2013 collection by clicking on the Post to Collection button. You do not have to be a participant in order to write treats. If you need an invite to AO3, please let us know.

Assignments will be emailed out no later than April 28th, but expect it to be earlier. Stories are due by June 28th, 11:59 pm Pacific Time.

Don't forget that sign ups are open until the 25th (let's go with 11:59 Pacific time for the closing time since I don't have to be up too early the next day, to give you the maximum amount of time). You can continue to edit your sign ups until then as well.

There has been some questions regarding our megafandom list as well as the sizes of fandoms approved into Not Prime Time.

Our 20,000 limit was set to give Jenn and I a firm yes or no regarding our top limit. It was difficult to set because, as an example, Harry Potter has over 600,000 stories on fanfiction.net alone and that number will only grow with time. We wanted to provide our participants with a good number of options throughout each round. A megafandom is sized from 20,000 to infinity. As of right now on our list, there are 47 fandoms and that number will continue to grow. Fandom numbers are growing right now, which is why we lock the list during each round.

Our current round has +/- 176 fandoms on its tag set, and this is with our new ruling to include more movie fandoms. 2012's Yuletide tag set has over 3000 fandoms on it.

We do not base a fandom's eligibility on subjective activeness, quality, or hosted archive. We go by numbers and "Does this fandom have over 20,000 stories?" When it comes to the lower half of eligibility, we use Yuletide's requirements with its guidelines because we base our lower end on that exchange. We make exceptions as new rulings for our exchange, but that comes with long discussions and new rulings go into effect before a new round.

If you feel a fandom is a megafandom, or our limits should be raised/lowered, please let us know on our post at the end of the round when we ask people for their comments. It can be said anonymously or not. Both Jenn and I strive to be as transparent as possible.

As for fandoms you may think are Yuletide-sized, well, they probably are. To simplify things for both you the participant and us the mods, we decided that fandoms only had to surpass one of Yuletide's criteria, not two or more. We like to keep things simple and not dealing with guessing games.

Our fandom tag set, like Yuletide's, changes from year to year. A fandom may pass the megafandom threshold and become ineligible, or Yuletide's rules may change and fandoms we accepted last year aren't eligible the following year for us because of those changes.

We've cleaned up the tag set with help from previous comments. Is there anything else that needs to be corrected on the tag set?

Nominations closing 4/12 at midnight Pacific time

I'm not going to get home until late on the 12th, so nominations will close at midnight Pacific time. You have until then to submit your fandom and character nominations.

Remember only these characters and fandoms are eligible for requests during sign ups.

Whoever nominated the above fandoms, please comment below with additional evidence regarding the fandom's size.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Fire Emblem Series, and Winx Club have been approved. Those fandoms listed earlier and were decided ineligible, please either change your nomination to something else or wait until the end of nominations for it to be rejected officially.

We have more fandoms nominated that, as far as AO3 and FFN numbers are concerned, are Yuletide-sized and not eligible for Not Prime Time. If the nominators could either comment below with additional evidence pointing to the medium size of the fandom or change their nominations to something else, that would be great. We won't officially reject it until the end of nominations in order to give you the option to change your nomination.

Remember that, for a non-RPF and movie fandom, we are either looking for 200 works on AO3 with over 1000 words, or 1000 works on FFN with "completed, English, >1000 words," etc. These are part of Yuletide's requirements for their eligibility (as in hitting under those numbers) but we are looking for one, not a combination.

Nominations run from April 5th until the 12th. You're able to nominate up to 4 fandoms and for each fandom, up to 6 characters. The fandoms must be medium sized fandoms (unless it's an RPF fandom or movie fandom which means it can also be a potential Yuletide fandom as well). Please only nominate fandoms that you are intending to request or offer.
