Jenn and I would like to thank everyone who helped make Not Prime Time a success - from the lurkers to the participants and our pinch hitters to the readers and back again. We hope to see you again for 2013's round set around the same time (though without the extra month ;)).
Not Prime Time will also be broadcasting on tumblr. During the hiatus, we'll promote works that were posted during this round. During the next round, we'll be mirroring the posts from npt_admin.
We would also like to take this opportunity to give everyone a chance to sound off. Let us know what you liked, what you didn't like, what you'd like to change. We want to hear your voices and what you have to say.
We won't be responding, though we will comment if someone asks us a question.

Date: 2012-08-07 06:21 pm (UTC)Almost everything was awesome. I particularly liked the pinch-hit changes from Yuletide, and I love that you have a DW community!
The one request I have: I would like for the extra month to be baked in to the schedule. One of the things I like least about Yuletide is that the writing time seems to be more and more cramped, and I'm the kind of writer who really needs a good deal of time to think about prompts and to put the story together. For NPT, for example, I was writing from the day prompts were sent out to a week before the new date stories were due -- long story, my betas told me my first draft had to be completely pitched, but anyway -- and if the original schedule had been followed, my recipient would have gotten a significantly less polished story.
I also -- this isn't a problem with NPT, exactly -- wonder how assiduously betas were used; perhaps people just didn't want to post about them until reveal, but I certainly read a lot of NPT fics without beta attribution. I've always found that even though it's an annoying hoop to jump through, betas make my fic so much better, and I kind of like being forced to have to use one for ficathons :) But maybe that's just me?

I certainly read a lot of NPT fics without beta attribution.
That was probably done to avoid giving away who had done the beta-ing, thus providing a clue about the identity of the author. I've done something similar during Yuletide and added the beta attribution later.

But like I said, everything else was wonderful and fun and I'm excited for next year! <3

Date: 2012-08-08 05:03 am (UTC)I probably won't mirror the tumblr posts promoting works that were written during this round if only because most of the people watching either comm are probably participants and have seen them. The weekly roundup of hiatus stories will be posted both on tumblr and
