2018 Not Prime Time Round

Not Prime Time will be running another round this year. The tentative schedule so far is:

2018 schedule
April 5 to 15 - Nominations
April 15 to 18 - Corrections
April 19 to 30 - Sign ups
May 3 - Assignments go out by the latest
May 5 - Madness collection and prompts open
July 3 - Stories due
July 13 - Main collection goes live
July 14 - Madness collection goes live
July 21 - Author reveals

Is there anything people would like to see changed? I'm currently in grad school, so there's a limit to what I can change in order to not make it more difficult for me, but I'll see what I can do. Also, should I continue having a separate treat collection for fics under 1k as well as non-fic works, or should that be folded into the main collection? There are pros and cons for both options.

I'll also be promoting Not Prime Time on tumblr before nominations open. Are there any fandoms/pairing tags I should do so? And if so, what are they?

I like the idea of just one collection to encompass everything.

The Arcana (visual novel), and The Shape Of Water are still pretty small fandoms that have been decently popular on Tumblr. I haven't seen any dedicated exchanges for them, so I think people would be interested in NPT for them

Do they have particular tags on tumblr that people use for those fandoms?

I think just "#the arcana" but The Shape Of Water probably uses the full name and #tsow as well!

Aren't those both too small for this exchange?

The Arcana has 459 works in English on AO3 and The Shape Of Water has 116, so unless I'm misunderstanding the guidelines (I'm going off of the FAQ from last year), they qualify.

I just checked. They both qualify for their categories (though you're missing the over 1k words for The Arcana as a filter).

I like it better when there's just one collection. Pet can either tag it as a treat fic or mention it in the notes. I've seen that work well.

My vote is for whatever is easier and less work for you, since you have to do a ton of work and we just have to write one story at the minimum. ;-)

Technically, that option is not running it :P but I can handle the strain for one year. Fortunately, it looks like next year's class load is a lot easier around this time and the year after that, I'll be in clinicals + studying for my boards. It's just this year that's the pain in the butt.

It'll be relationship matching, along with 'Character & None' again as an option, for those who want to offer/request stories strictly about one character.

What is the advantage of character matching versus relationship matching?

Having everything in the same collection has always made the most sense to me as a reader because I only need to browse one fandom list to find what I want to read.

Is there any chance of increasing the number of fandoms we can request? I often struggle to cut my want list down.

The current maximum amount of fandoms someone can request is 6. What maximum number would you suggest?

I've personally gotten used to many exchanges allowing up to ten, but really any additional slots at all would be a bonus as I currently I have at least eight fandoms I'm struggling to pick between for NPT.

Having said that, if you're worried about the tagset increasing correspondingly from a time perspective this year (or just don't want to increase them), I'd totally understand that as well. Either way, thank you for considering!

I don't mind adding more fandom slots. I haven't decided what the increase will be to, but going to 10 shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not worried about the tag set since Not Prime Time doesn't have a large participant base compared to some other exchanges.
