Jenn and I have been talking it over and we're leaning towards delaying the rest of the schedule of Not Prime Time because of AO3 performance issues*.

We're putting a poll to the community, you don't have to be a participant to vote, to see what everyone thinks. The options are a delay of two weeks (so two weeks from June 25th would be the new deadline, etc), one month, or no delay.

I went with No Delay, but if the archive actually goes down, then I'm in favor of delay. :)

OTOH, it might be worth it to drop a line to the AO3 folks asking if delaying might be good for them in terms of traffic, if it'll make an impact at all.

I'm currently on AO3 staff as a Tester, and from that pov I don't think that the traffic from this is likely to have much impact on the archive - as it is the sheer volume of incoming users etc that are causing the problems (the linked post has some of the numbers).
However, I'm in favour of a delay as a mod because getting to the list of assignments/defaults etc is hard and I think that if people are trying to post it would be very stressful for them (well, and me - I haven't posted yet).

I voted for the one-month delay because despite all the work that they're doing at AO3, I suspect that they're being optimistic when they tell us that things will be significantly better in two weeks. But whichever new deadline the community as a whole chooses, I definitely am voting to push the deadline back -- it would be a good deed, it seems to me, on any number of levels.

Thanks. I ask because if we do have extra time, I might try to write a longer story than I was originally planning, but I don't want to start doing that then discover too late that we actually don't have any extra time.

The delay is going to happen, judging by how many people want one, but whether it's for two weeks or one month is still in the air.
